Different Types of Spoon Pipes

Spoon pipes come in different sizes and materials. They all function by having a carb hole located on either side of the bowl head. This serves to clear out the airway and makes for some big hits. The head of the bowl is usually enlarged, allowing for a larger volume of smoke. The chamber is usually thinner and can be made of glass, ceramic, or silicone.

Some are big and some are small. Some glass spoon pipes come double-blown, making them very durable. They can even change color depending on whether or not they are fumed. The best types of spoon pipes are often made of silicone. This is because silicone is durable, affordable, and is easier to maintain.

Spoon Pipes vs Other Designs

Spoon pipes are unique in that they are the perfect package. They are usually small enough to fit comfortably in your hand. They are rounded but can sit flat on a surface. The bowl can accommodate a good amount of dry herbs. The carb ensures you get a big hit, and the size is easily portable and concealable.

Add if you are talking about a smoking pipe made of silicone, and you have the ultimate travel pipe. Silicone will not break, crack, chip, or melt. Other pipes on the market might be too big, or too small. Some don’t even have carb holes. Other pipes are too intricate or made of subpar materials such as metal. Spoon pipes are better on many fronts.

Before You Smoke

The main thing you want to do is ensure you have a smooth session. This can only be possible if you have good herbs and a good grinder. If you have bad quality herbs, your session will not be fulfilling. If you have good herbs but you fail to properly grind them, your session will be subpar. This is the first thing you want to address.

Simply acquire some good, high-quality dry herb material. Properly chop and mince them up in a high-quality herb grinder. Do not over grind. Make sure it all comes out nice and fluffy. If your spoon pipe is already clean and ready to go, then all the better. Only grind up what you intend to smoke and make sure you have all your accessories.

Packing Your Bowl

Your dry herb material should be light, fluffy, and slightly hydrated, but not moistened or damp. Lightly pack your bowl and press down, but not too hard. The goal is to pack a full bowl without overfilling. If you pack too tightly, you will find it hard to hit. Just fill it up to the top, lightly pack down, and fill it up a little more if necessary.

You will usually just fill it up and press down once you are ready to smoke. This should be more than enough for your smoke session. The good news is that spoon pipes are known for having large, accommodating bowls. Cover the carb hole, light up your bowl, and take in a hit. No need to go too hard, just draw in your breath. Before you take your hit, take off the flame and release the carb hole. This will clear out the chamber.

After Your Session

Once you have taken your hit, exhale and enjoy the ride. After your smoke session you will be able to empty out the ashes from the bowl. Simply wipe it down if you find you have excess debris left in the bowl. At this point all you really need to do is safely store your piece until you are ready to use it again.

If you are using a glass piece, you will have to wait before putting it back in your pocket. Silicone spoon pipes are more convenient and can be immediately stored. No matter what type of spoon you pipe you use, they will all function the same. They are designed to be simple and effective.
