What is CBD?

Cannabidiol, also known as CBD, is a phytocannabinoid that is in cannabis plants. It makes up a large percentage of the cannabis plant, along with 113 other cannabinoids. When cannabinoids are extracted from the cannabis plant, it can be used in a variety of ways, depending on what is extracted. The most commonly known cannabinoids are CBD and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Each has different effects.

How CBD is Used

CBD can be used in different forms, whether by being used topically in a lotion, in a vape, as an oil, or in an edible.

CBD Creams and Topicals

Another option for CBD products is CBD Cream, Salve, and even lotions that can be applied on top of the problem areas and are meant to alleviate pain. While this is a different way to utilize CBD versus smoking, a capsule, or edibles, it still works when applied. This is an option that users can use on a daily basis if chronic pain or even stretch marks is the ailment that is bothering you. Researching the different kinds of CBD available and which is best for your body and your needs can help you make the right decision for whatever edible or other kind of CBD product you decide to choose.

Difference Between CBD and THC

First and most important is that CBD is federally legal while THC is not. While CBD products may sometimes contain traces of THC, it will always be under 0.3%. THC is known for giving you the high effect that many people associate with marijuana. CBD does not induce the same mind-altering or body high effects as THC.

CBD is from Hemp

The cannabis family of plants includes marijuana and Hemp. CBD is typically sourced from the Hemp Plant which is legal in a majority of places, and can be put on topically, taken orally, or vaped. It does not have the psychotropic effects that THC does. THC has different effects on the body and mind, and is not legal on the federal and many state levels. While many countries are moving towards legalizing the THC aspect of marijuana for recreational purposes, it is still not widely there yet.

Uplifting Mood

CBD can give a mood uplift and energy, as well as help relieve many different ailments. For those with chronic issues, where taking constant pain killers can have long term negative effects on your health, CBD is a viable alternative option. It does not have the addictive qualities that other pharmaceuticals have, and could even possibly help control addiction. There have been little side effects that have been found in correlation with CBD, and its medicinal purposes are extremely beneficial. It is an excellent, natural option to take to relieve many different health problems.

Does CBD Work?

Endocannabinoid System

To understand how CBD works, it is important to understand a system within the human body. The endocannabinoid system, otherwise known as ECS, is a biological system within our bodies. It is made up of neurotransmitters that are lipid based. The main purpose of the endocannabinoid system is to bind to cannabinoid receptors that are based throughout the central nervous system. The human body produces cannabinoids which regulate things such as the inflammation and other aspects of the nervous system.

Ease Pain, Epilepsy and Other Ailments

Cannabinoids are already naturally occurring in our body, and putting CBD in our body as an external cannabinoid helps increase the positive effects within that system. The job of the ECS is to respond to cannabinoids that are produced not only within the body, but come in externally as well. Responding to external cannabinoids, such as CBD, can have an effect on the system because it can help mediate ailments such as pain and inflammation. There are various studies and science that will back up the positive benefits to CBD, and it is a more natural remedy that is available.
