DaVinci IQ Vaporizer Review by Experienced Vape Professional

Vaporizers are becoming more and more common, almost flooding the market with vapes of all shapes and sizes, some worth the price and others just a waste of time. Lately I’ve been using the DaVinci IQ vaporizer, and point for point this is a great vaporizer I would feel comfortable recommending. Loads of new features put the DaVinci IQ on the cutting edge of vape technology. It’s like the Rolls Royce of vaporizers.

The DaVinci IQ earns its name with some of the smartest features on the market. It has a light grid display, replaceable 18651 battery, precision control, bluetooth app integration, and other features that accentuate the design and high-quality materials. Inside and out, the DaVinci IQ is pure sophistication designed for the purest vape experience possible. The folks at the DaVinci Vaporizer Company say they’re shooting for purity, innovation, and control. And I have to say, they pretty much nailed it.

A Closer Look at the IQ’s Amazing Features

The DaVinci IQ Vaporizer is state of the art from the top to the bottom:

The 51 LED light grid display is all new and easy to read, telling you the exact temperature, use mode, and everything else you need to know. And it’s bright enough to read against the brushed anodized aluminum shell, which comes in stealth (which is like black), copper, gunmetal (my fav), or blue. “Stealth Mode” dims the LED lights. That’s a real plus because the default LED brightness makes those lights pretty bright. Activate Stealth Mode through the app or by clicking the top button and the down button together at the same time.

Not only does the DaVinci IQ look cool, it’s design is small and streamlined, fitting perfectly in a palm, pocket or purse. Other vaporizers claim to be discreet, some looking more like computer hard drives or even smart phones, but nothing fades into your briefcase, handbag, or backpack better than the DaVinci IQ. It has a little more weight than comparable dry herb vaporizers, but that gives it a solid feel that some less-expensive small vaporizers can offer. And that little extra weight comes from the high quality ceramic materials that provide the DaVinci’s pure vape flavor and potency.

Materials really make the difference when it comes to vape purity, and this is another area where the DaVinci IQ really shines. The 100% ceramic zirconia mouthpiece and air path that has the same great flavor as glass but is 20 times stronger! The glass-coated ceramic heating chamber and zirconia pro lid ensure the best tasting vape around. The all-ceramic air path offers increased vapor production.

Charging the IQ Vaporizer

Using the DaVinci starts with powering it up. Charge the DaVinci IQ’s Sony 3500mAh 18650 battery using the DaVinci IQ’s USB charger, which is included. It takes about 4 hours to charge inside the DaVinci IQ, or about 2 hours in the nitecore i2 external charger. One charge is good for about 50-80 minutes of use.

You can use the IQ while it’s charging, something a lot of other vaporizers just can’t do. And you can swap out the battery for a fresh one for longer use on the go, something vapes with built-in batteries can’t offer. And a replaceable vape battery means when the battery does finally die, the vaporizer itself doesn’t die with it. Put in a fresh battery, toss the old one, and your DaVinci IQ is as good as the day you brought it home.

Once you’re charged up and packed, turning the DaVinci IQ on is as easy as five quick clicks of the power button. The IQ has an automatic shutoff timer of 10 minutes, so the device won’t get fried if you forget to turn it off. Five clicks of the button turns it back on or off again, as you desire.

The DaVinci IQ offers the choice of either precision or boost modes. Precision mode lets you set the vaporizer to the exact temperature you want, adjustable to within a single degree, at the touch of a button. The IQ has a range of 250° F - 430° F / 121° C - 221° C. The all-new smart path technology provides four predetermined path settings that automatically create the best dry herb vaping experience, and you can customize those to your specific liking. To turn on precision mode tap the top button one time, and then press the up and down button to set your desired temp.

In boost mode, you get on-demand heating instantaneously. Arrows appear on the front of the IQ while it heats up. The heater rises a maximum temperature of 430F as long as you continue holding the button. Let go of the button and the temperature goes back down to the previous setting. This is handy when you want little extra vapor of a draw.

All this control and more can be found in the bluetooth app. You can create your own unique smart-paths and adjust precision temperature, automatically increase the temperature during your session, and lots of other features. You can download the app from Apple App Store or Google Play. This is the first vaporizer I’ve used that came with an app, and it’s a big leap forward.

Keep in mind that you don’t need to use the app in order to enjoy the DaVinci IQ, but it does make the absolute most out of this great vaporizer. And there are a few things you’ll need the app for, such as customizing the smart path sessions, turn off vibration alerts, or get device information like total usage time, average session length, average temperature and favorite path. You also won’t be able to see the number of times you’ve used each of the smart path choices.

And cool as the app is, once you’ve used it to set your vape experience the way you like it, you control the temperature from the vape itself, so you don’t have to keep going to your phone every time you want to make a slight change.

Cleaning and Maintaining the DaVinci

The DaVinci IQ is quick and easy to clean and maintain. Of course, you should empty out the bowl after each use, and either brush or blow out the chamber. This way you won’t have to clean them as often. The flavor chamber and vape mouthpiece do need to be cleaned regularly, but that couldn’t be easier. Just slide out the flavor chamber and mouthpiece(s), put them in some isopropyl alcohol (or rubbing alcohol). Let it soak or wipe them down. A lot of people use cotton swaps to get into the mouthpiece’s tighter spots. I clean these parts of my vaporizer after every ten sessions or so.

Additional facts about the DaVinci IQ Vaporizer

The DaVinci is a dry herb vaporizer, so if you’re a fan of liquid concentrates or waxes, you might want to consider a vape specially designed for those things. The truth is that a lot of 2-in-1 or 3-in-one vaporizers just don’t perform as well as they should. Instead, the DaVinci IQ is specifically designed for optimal specialized performance. If you’re a dry herb enthusiast, this could very well be the vape for you.

The chamber of the DaVinci IQ packs pretty easily. How tightly you pack it, and how fine you grind your dry herb, is up to you. A coarse grind creates less vapor but provides less draw resistance. A fine grind provides denser vapor but considerably more draw resistance. Conduction vapes often don’t perform that well with coarse grinds or a fully packed chamber, but the DaVinci IQ handles a .30 gram-packed chamber of coarse grind herb like a champ. I personally recommend the new DaVinci glass spacers. They shrink the chamber, which uses less herbs but still delivers the same great results.

The IQ includes a 10mm adapter so you can use it with a compatible water pipe or bong. The adapter keeps the vaporizer in place and secure so it can be passed around with security and confidence. This is another time the DaVinci IQ’s size is a big advantage. Smaller vaporizers are ideal for moisturizing your vapor!

All in all, the DaVinci IQ is a great new device. It certainly provides the innovation, purity, and control its creators were hoping for, and then some. I can’t wait to see what the folks at DaVinci come up with next.
