DaVinci IQ 2 Vaporizer Review

DaVinci is a well-known company that manufactures state-of-the-art vapes. They have been lauded for their production of portable vapes that utilize first-class technology giving users an optimal vaping experience amplified by stellar vapor quality, ease of use, modern design and more. One of their newest releases, the DaVinci IQ2 Vaporizer, is a dual-use vaporizer as it allows for the consumption of both dry herb and extracts. It allows users to customize their experience through airflow adjustment and precision temperature controls.

Compared to the DaVinci IQ, the IQ2 model features an updated and improved design as well as a few new features. However, these changes have also made it so that the IQ2 is not compatible with IQ parts and accessories all found at our vape shop.

What’s Included in Your Kit?

The DaVinci IQ2 Kit is a high-end vape and sells for about $300. It includes the vaporizer, a 10mm bubbler adapter, a 0.2 dosage pod, nine pieces of organic cotton, one ceramic extract tab, a USB charger cable, a pick tool and nine alcoholic wipes.

The vaporizer has been crafted with medical-grade components to ensure optimum vapor quality that is unmatched by its competing vaporizers. The exterior is crafted from brushed aluminum, giving it an extraordinarily sleek and luxurious look and feel. The zirconia and glass-lined oven can hold up to 0.5 grams of dry herb if a herb grinder is used.

The DaVinci IQ2’s oven is glass-lined, making it a conduction vaporizer. The heat-up time of the oven is less than one minute and the temperature and be controlled within one degree of accuracy. You can also use SmartPaths technology on the DaVinci app (only currently available on Google Play, but Android and Apple versions are said to be in the works) to create unique temperature curves that you would like the device to follow.

The DaVinci IQ2’s 18650 battery typically lasts only one hour – or eight to 10 sessions – and will take a few hours to charge using the provided USB cable. The 3500 mAH battery is removable, so you can simply switch it out for a spare if you have one.

Noteworthy Characteristics

One of the coolest features about the IQ2 is its SmartPaths technology. This is something that lives on the DaVinci app (only currently available on Google Play) and allows you to customize your vaping experience with one-of-a-kind temperature curves so you don’t have to change temperatures during a session. For instance, if you want to begin a session at 180°C but end at 220°C, you can set that particular temperature path. Of course, if you ever want to change temperatures it can easily be adjusted manually.

Another one of the DaVinci IQ2’s top attributes is its adjustable airflow. One of the new features on the IQ2 is its Air Dial™. This allows you to change the rate at which air flows through the vaporizer; there are five different airflow levels. This feature coupled with the SmartPaths temperature technology fosters a completely customizable vaping experience.

Another new feature of the DaVinci IQ2 is its very useful and nifty dose control. To use this feature, click the power button twice after packing the vape to enter the dosage mode control. Then, enter the strength of your herb and how full the heating chamber is. The DaVinci IQ2 will then display how much you consume in each hit.

One of the most noticeable and notable features of the DaVinci IQ2 is that it is extremely portable. It weighs less than half a pound and has a height of fewer than four inches. It can easily slide into your back pocket or stored in the side pocket of a purse, also making it exceptionally discreet.

Lastly, the DaVinci IQ2 has an adjustable oven size. Using the DaVinci’s ‘Pearl,’ an oval-shaped element, can be adjusted to accommodate smaller doses. Using the pearl, the oven can be reduced by a third.

How to Use Your IQ2 Vaporizer

The DaVinci IQ2 is exceptionally easy to use. The first step is to fill the vaporizer with your dry herb of choice. Then, hold down the power button to turn the device on and adjust your temperature and airflow settings. Once you choose your setting, the IQ2 will automatically heat up and vibrate to let you know when that stage is complete. If you decide to use the IQ2’s flavor chamber, be sure to fill that with your desired flavor well. (Don’t forget that you can also use the IQ2’s dose control mode to keep an eye on how much herb you’re consuming with each inhale.) Now all that is left to do is take a hit and enjoy.

Vapor and Flavor Quality

Because the DaVinci IQ2 has been crafted with medical-grade parts, it offers a phenomenally pure vapor and flavor quality. There are no plastic or metal parts that have contact with the dry herb, reducing the risk for potential contamination. Also, the IQ2’s SmartPaths technology that allows for unique temperature control, means you can start a session with smooth, tasty hits and end with more complex hits and flavor.

Cleaning and Maintaining Your IQ2 Vaporizer

There are two main areas of the IQ2 vaporizer that need to be cleaned – the oven and the flavor chamber. The easiest way to clean the oven is by allowing it to cool for around two minutes after a session and then carefully removing any remaining buildup. This way, any remaining grime will be warm enough to easily remove without harsh scraping but won’t be so hot that it will burn you. This is also an optimal time to remove any bits and pieces that are stuck to the pearl.

For a deeper vape cleaning, wait for the oven and pearl to cool down entirely and then gently swab both parts with a cue tip soaked in isopropyl alcohol. Similarly, use a cue tip and isopropyl alcohol to clean the flavor chamber.

To maintain and prolong the life of your IQ2 vape, it’s a good idea to clean any parts that come in contact with the vapor every so often. The easiest way to do this is by soaking any parts of the IQ2 that have contact with the vapor in isopropyl alcohol. This includes the mouthpiece, flavor chamber and more.

Comparison to PAX 3

It’s no secret that the DaVinci IQ2 is an excellent vaporizer. But how does it stack up to the popular PAX 3? Price point-wise, the PAX 3 kit runs for around $250, almost $50 less than the IQ2. It is also available as “device-only” for about $200. Upon first glance, the PAX 3 has similar features to those of the IQ2, but let’s take a closer look.

Similarly, to the DaVinci IQ2, the PAX 3 is compatible with both dry herb vaporizers and extracts. It also has a 3500 mAH battery that lasts for eight to 10 sessions and the dimensions of both vaporizers are relatively similar. Both vaporizers have also been crafted to sport a particularly modern and sleek design that fosters a high level of discreteness.

However, there are a few notable differences between the two state-of-the-art vaporizers. The first is that the PAX 3’s oven only holds up to 0.3 grams, whereas the IQ2’s can hold up to 0.5 grams. The PAX 3 has an Android-compatible app that can be used to adjust the temperature setting or this can be adjusted on the PAX 3 device via the temperature settings mode. However, the PAX 3 does not allow for temperature adjustments that are as precise as the IQ2. It does, however, have five different dynamic modes – standard, stealth, boost, flavor and efficiency. Also, the Pax 3 only takes around 20 seconds to heat up, whereas the IQ2 takes close to one minute.

A Final Say

The DaVinci IQ2 is an excellent, high-tech vaporizer that boasts many new features to help each and every user curate an optimal, one-of-a-kind vaping experience. It’s a definite step-up from the DaVinci’s IQ vaporizer. Although the IQ2 sports many different temperature and airflow settings that allow for completely customizable sessions, it is exceptionally easy to use and offers something for vaping novices and experts alike.
