People vape for all kinds of reasons; recreational and medical uses, quitting smoking, heath concerns over dangerous carcinogens that come with combustion (burning things). Vaping gives the user more control over intake, and a cleaner and more efficient experience.

And that means there are all kinds of vapes on the market for a variety of different needs. They vary in function, size, and cost, though a lot of them share certain traits and benefits and also the same drawbacks.

The new DaVinci MIQRO vaporizer is a small model that packs all the punch of its bigger brother, the DaVinci IQ, with several changes and a significant drop in price. It’s got the quality materials, state-of-the-art tech, and sleek design which deliver purity, innovation, and control, hallmarks of the DaVinci brand.

The New Davinci MIQRO

The DaVinci MIQRO’s tiny size makes it ultra-portable. At 3.125 in (7.94 cm) tall, 1.34 in (3.4 cm wide) and 0.91 in (2.3 cm) deep, it’s one of the smallest portable vaporizers on the market and is ideal for travel, use on the go, or individual sessions. And it weighs just 3.7 oz / 104 g with the battery.

The next thing you notice about the MIQRO, besides its size, is its sleek, durable design. The tough anodized aluminum shell and lighted buttons have a durable and high-quality feel. The hinged magnetic doors are easy to open and stay closed when you want or need them to.

But it’s the part you can’t see that really puts the DaVinci vaporizers ahead of the rest. The pure dry herb vapor created by the DaVinci MIQRO comes from the ceramic oven and zirconia ceramic parts. The internal vapor path and a cooling mouthpiece contribute to the smoothness of the vapor. Unlike a lot of other vaporizers, the DaVinci MIQRO can handle a fully packed oven and produce satisfying clouds.

Charging the DaVinci MIQRO

First thing, charge up the DaVinci MIQRO. You can charge the battery while in the unit via the USB charger (included). It takes about two hours to charge the battery this way, and about half the time to charge using the external charger (not included). Once charged. the unit heats up in about 30 seconds. If the battery is dying, is takes about 60 seconds, which is still pretty good time. The 18350 900mAh battery delivers about 4 sessions on a single charge. And since the vape batteries are replaceable, the unit doesn’t die when the battery does. That’s a simple innovation a lot of vaporizers can’t offer which can all be found on our vape shop.

Once the MIQRO is fully charged, the battery meter shows four bars, and they drop one with each bowl, so you always know when you’ll need a charge.

Like the bigger DaVinci IQ, the MIQRO can be used while it’s charging, but it will drain faster than the battery will charge, so it’s not truly pass-through charging. I recommended the second battery that comes with the Explorer’s Collection and the external charger. I charge one battery while using the other and I’m never without a vape when I need it.

Using the DaVinci MIQRO

Once charged up, it’s time to load up! Herbs glide right into the loading dock over the large, smooth beveled surface and right into the ceramic oven with a gentle tap on the side of the device. And you can use coarser grinds if you like but we recommend a finer grind and do not over pack the heating chamber because the hot air needs to space to circulate between the herbs. Like all conduction vaporizers, it benefits from a more tightly packed oven, but not a too fully packed oven. Pack it too loose and there won’t be much vapor. The air flow depends on how tightly the oven is packed. When it comes to how to use the MIQRO dry herb vaporizer, it does better with short to medium draws instead of longer ones.

The loading dock can hold up to a quarter-gram of dry herbs if properly ground up with an herb grinder in the dry herb vaporizer, more than enough for a good solo session. The innovative pearl extends from the oven lid with a twist to reduce the capacity of the loading dock to less than a tenth of a gram, if you prefer light use or micro-dosing. Extend the pearl by turning it but treat the pearl with care to make sure it isn’t overstressed or banged around. Twist it carefully and it will last the lifetime of the device.

Now slip on the mouthpiece or extension and you’re ready to go! The mouthpieces have a silicone gasket which keeps them airtight to prevent leaks. There is an extended mouthpiece and a flat mouthpiece. Using the flat mouthpiece required bringing the unit right up to the user’s lips, the extension provides some room. The flat mouthpiece may give the unit a more streamlined look, but it does get hot and the extension is perfect for when that happens. Instead of switching mouthpieces midsession, I just use the extension.

The unit has three buttons, a power button and up and down buttons.

Five quick clicks of the power button turns the MIQRO on and off. Use the power button for switching between the Smart Path, precision heating, and Boost modes. Use the up and down buttons for selecting the Smart Path/temperature modes.

Use the MIQRO’s precision tuning to vaporize at any specific temperature you wish, or use one of four preset smart paths. They start at 350F, 370F, 390F, and 410F. Each one slowly increases by 20 degrees over five minutes.

Regardless of which smart path you use, if any, you can always use boost mode. Just hold the power button down and the temperature goes up until you release it. This way every hit is adjustable at the touch of a button.

There is also a standby mode and precision heating mode, which disengages the temperature presets and let you choose a precise temperature of your choosing.

The MIQRO heats up a little more slowly than other vaporizers, but that's a blessing in disguise. As vape experts will tell you, low and slow exemplifies flavor and reduces the burned or ashy taste that comes with an overheated vaporizer. This makes the MIQRO the perfect vaporizer for light users and solo sessions.

Clearing and Cleaning the DaVinci MIQRO

After your vaping session, you'll want to empty out the heating chamber. Do this with the very small yet handy tool attached to the bottom of the MIQRO (there's also one in the kit). Gently scoop out the used herb from the chamber. And don't just throw those fine grains out, as they are already gone through the decarb process and are perfect for making butter or other infused oils for making edibles.

One of the great things about the DaVinci MIQRO (and its bigger brother. the IQ) is that it’s pretty easy to clean. It’s got the removable vapor path, the only portable vaporizers I know of that features such a handy innovation. Removability makes it easy to soak in or while down with isopropyl or rubbing alcohol. The pearl is removable too. There is a spot between the oven and vapor path that can be tricky, and you’ll need a swab with some alcohol to rub the oven clean. And be super careful when you do this, making sure the swab is wrung out and not dripping with alcohol. One drop of that in the device’s electronics and the whole thing will fry.

Two Kits to Choose From!

A lot of vaporizers come in kits that include cleaning devices, chargers, some even include applications for the vaporizer (I’m looking at you, IQ). The Standard Bundle includes the DaVinci MIQRO. a 1-mm mouthpiece, USB cable, cleaning kit, 1 battery and the user’s manual. The Explorer’s Collection includes all that plus a carrying can, carrying case, grinder card, glove, extra parts and tools, plus a second battery, which is a real boon when you think about how relatively short the battery life is from the small rechargeable batteries.

Making the Best Choice in Vaporizers

The DaVinci Vaporizer company is a solid company for sure. And the DaVinci MIQRO for dry herbs is one of the best vaporizers on the market. The high-quality performance comes from its dedicated functionality features. It is not a combo unit, like so many 2-in-1 and 3-in-1 units, which are usually not as effective at any of their multiple functions. If you like wax concentrates, e liquids or juice, you may want to get a vaporizer specifically for that product.

The DaVinci MIQRO is small, so it does get quite warm. The Explorer’s Collection includes a glove for this very reason.

Overall, the DaVinci MIQRO swings and scores! It’s well built and well designed, reliable, elegant, and competitively priced. If you want an amazingly small and portable, high quality vaporizer that delivers potent hits and true herb flavor, the DaVinci MIQRO belongs on the top of your list.
