In short, True Vaporization is the healthier alternative to traditional smoking methods. During True Vaporization, dry herbs are heated by hot air, so instead of smoke you get vapor. Combustion is what occurs when a flame or a red-hot coil makes contact with dry herbs. The herbs will burn and release smoke opposed to vapor. Be sure to use a herb grinder to prep your dry herb for best practices
Demand for dry herb vaporizers that deliver true vaporization has exploded over the past few years because it is the new, healthier way of smoking that everyone is talking about. Most of these vaporizers will house a ceramic heating chamber—the chamber is what the dry herbs are packed into. As the heating chamber heats up, the dry herbs are evenly heated by hot air. As the herbs continue to heat, the aromas will lift off its surface in the form of vapor. As this process continues, and especially as you increase the temperature, the herbs will break down and turn brown in color, but they will not turn to ash.
Combustion vaporizers are a more convenient way of smoking, opposed to the true vapes that provide a healthier alternative to smoking. With your combustion vape, dry herbs are packed into a ceramic chamber similar to the true vapes, but instead of being heated by air, the herbs are heated by the direct touch of a red-hot coil at the bottom of the heating chamber.
Once upon a time, the larger desktop vaporizers were your only choice and they dominated the vape scene. Nowadays, when shopping for a new vaporizer, most people go straight for the portable vapes. When technology was at its low, a big bulky desktop vape was your only choice. But now with advances in technology, the vape industry has a lot more to offer.
Portable vaporizers are the latest popular electronic gadgets, and for good reason. They are lightweight, small enough to fit in a pocket or purse, and can be operated with one hand. Just charge your vape before you hit the road and you’ll have a discreet, reliable piece of technology that can be used almost anywhere.
Desktop vaporizers are larger and heavier than their portable vape counterparts. The functionality is similar to a portable vape, but the desktop stays at home. They cannot be used on the go and they typically rely on a wall outlet for power—besides portability, the biggest difference with the desktop is how it is powered and its lifespan. Portable vaporizers rely on internal batteries that store energy while charging. Overtime, any battery that stores energy will degrade and eventually stop taking a charge in time. Most portable vaporizers will last a long time, but the desktop vaporizers will always outlast them.
The main function of a dry herb vaporizer is to heat dry herbs. As you browse for a new vaporizer, you’ll notice your options include vapes that give you full control over the temperature while others offer a few ideal fixed temperature settings to switch between.
A vaporizer that gives you full temperature control will usually be equipped with an LED or OLED screen to display the battery meter, different temperature readings and other important information. With the push of a button or the tap of a finger, you can adjust the temperature up or down by a single degree. Not all dry herbs are created equally—some are denser and dryer than others. If you want the ability to fine tune your vaping experience by a single degree, then make sure your vape has full control.
You don’t need full control of the temperature to have an enjoyable time vaping. Most vapes in this category come with 3-5 heat settings ranging from the high 200s to the mid 400s. For example, the Titan 1 we offer has 3 settings—360°F, 380°F, 420°F. The VT 1.0 has the most fixed settings of any vape in this category—10 settings.
Part of the growth behind portable vaporizers can be attributed to the introduction of oils, e liquids and wax concentrates. There are plenty of options out there if you need a dry herb vape, a wax vape or vapes for your oils. But you can also find a versatile vaporizer that will accommodate all three products—herbs, wax and oil.
A versatile vape that can handle herbs, wax and oil will accommodate each product with different chamber attachments. A chamber for the herbs will be different than a chamber for oil—an herb chamber is typically a hallowed ceramic chamber either with or without an exposed coil at the bottom; oil is typically housed in a glass-type chamber and is heated by a wick and coil. We recommend always using a separate chamber for each product—never mix.
Vaporizers come in all shapes, sizes, colors and abilities. Most dry herb vapes are offered in just a few basic colors such as black, blue and silver. Although you can easily travel with all portable vapes, some are more portable than others—some can easily fit in your pocket without an issue while others may be a little bulky.
Beyond the look and feel of your vaporizer, you’ll need to consider how you want the vaporizer to perform—how quickly does it heat up? How much control over the temperature do I have? Will the battery easily last me all day (the higher the mAh, the more energy a battery can store)? Do I want an LCD screen, Bluetooth or some other function?

Titan 2 Vaporizer Review
The Titan 2 vaporizer for dry herbs is one of the best values you can find. For those looking for a quality vaporizer, but not the higher-end stuff, this is for you at under $50. The Titan 2 is extremely lightweight, feels very good in the hands and comes with complete temperature control.
The ceramic heating chamber is a good size and the draw from the mouthpiece is smooth—the kit comes with silicone mouthpiece extension sleeves that are great to use while vaping, especially during long vape sessions.
Flowermate V5.0S Vaporizer Review
You cannot go wrong if you decide to go with this vaporizer. In the class of ‘dry herb vaporizers for $99.99’, pound for pound, the Flowermate V5.0S sits at the top. The long-term durability is some of the best and the overall quality is in line with the rest of the Flowermate products.
Titan 1 Vaporizer Review
The Titan 1 has been around since the early days and it is a veteran in the dry herb vape market. The thin, cylinder-like shape makes it ideal for handling while traveling. You can operate the vape with a single button and single LED light. The chamber is metal and is very easy to pack and clean out. The Titan 1 has three different temperature settings ideal for vaping your dry herbs and utilizes a micro usb to charge easily charge while on the go.
AGO Vaporizer Review
The AGO has been around for a long time and its slim, pen-shaped design make it a staple in the vaporizer world. It is composed of three main parts—the battery, the chamber and the mouthpiece. The heating chamber is ceramic and an exposed coil on the bottom heats and burns the herbs—therefore defining the AGO as a combustion vape. However, by using a glass screen in between the coil and herbs, you can achieve true vaporization. But this vape was really designed for those that enjoy smoking and are not looking for a healthier option. The AGO is a more techy, convenient way to get your smoke on, especially in certain conditions—imagine snowboarding on a cold, windy wet day in the mountains. Instead of a lighter you can get your vape on with the press of a button.
Special Note: Although the AGO is a combustion vape, with the use of 1 or 2 glass screens you can achieve True Vaporization. Just place 1 or 2 glass screens at the bottom of the heating chamber to separate the herbs from coil. Without direct contact to the hot coil, the herbs will heat and brown instead of turning to ash. Get your glass vape screens here.
Micro Vaporizer Review
The Micro Vape gained its popularity as a wax vape pen. Its shape, size and overall design make it a very portable and a very widely used vaporizer pen. Given the demand for this style, we released a dry herb version. With this vape, herbs are packed into coils that screw into the battery. You can simply change them out by screwing and unscrewing them. Especially when traveling, it is best to pre-pack a few of the chambers since the chamber does not have a very large capacity. And just like the AGO, at the bottom of these coils is an exposed coil that heats and burns the dry herbs. Unlike the AGO, this chamber is too small to hold a glass screen to separate the herbs from the coil.
